IPD: De-addiction

De-addiction Assessments & Patient Roster

Two connected pages support the de-addiction pathway:

  • De-addiction Assessments (ipd/pages/deaddiction.php) — substance use history intake, including standardized AUDIT (alcohol) and DAST (drug) screening scores, and initial Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) planning. Requires ipd_progress_notes.
  • De-addiction Patients (ipd/pages/deaddiction_patients.php) — a dedicated roster of every patient admitted under a de-addiction pathway, kept separate from the general ward roster since these patients often need distinct tracking. Requires ipd_admissions.

Step-by-step: assessment

  1. Go to De-addiction Assessments for the admission (must be flagged as a de-addiction admission — see IPD Admissions).
  2. Document substance use history: primary and other substances, duration, pattern of use.
  3. Complete AUDIT/DAST scoring as applicable.
  4. Record initial OST planning notes if opioid substitution therapy is indicated.

Step-by-step: viewing the roster

  1. Go to De-addiction Patients.
  2. Filter by status (active, or all) to see the current de-addiction caseload across the ward.
  3. Click through to any patient's full admission for detailed charting.

Common issues & fixes

confirm their admission was flagged as a de-addiction admission at the time of admission (is_deaddiction); this can't always be toggled after the fact depending on your version.
assessments need ipd_progress_notes; the roster needs ipd_admissions.
