Test Catalog & Panels

The Test Catalog (lab/pages/catalog.php) is the master list of every individual test the lab can perform — name, category, price, reference ranges, and specimen requirements. Panels (lab/pages/panels.php) group multiple related tests into a single orderable bundle (e.g., a metabolic panel).

Managing the catalog

  1. Go to Test Catalog.
  2. Create/edit a test: name, category, price, specimen/container type, and reference range/interpretation thresholds.
  3. Deactivate a test no longer offered rather than deleting it, to preserve historical order/result integrity.

Managing panels

  1. Go to Test Panels.
  2. Create/edit a panel: name and the set of individual tests it includes.
  3. Save — the panel becomes selectable as a single item when creating a new lab order.

Common issues & fixes

check it's active (not deactivated) in the catalog.
verify all component tests of the panel actually have results entered; a panel is only "resulted" once its components are.
update it directly in the Test Catalog entry for that test.
